Club Information
History of the Great Dane Club of California
The first meeting of the Great Dane Club of California was in August of 1931. At the first meeting the original constitution and bylaws were drawn up and it remains the foundation of the present Constitution and Bylaws. In the 1930’s, although not a large club, and never making a drive for a large membership, it was considered an honor to be invited and a privilege to belong. A short time after the club formation, an invitation by letter to join the Great Dane Club of America was received and the Club voted to become an affiliate member. The first Specialty show was held in 1932 and since then the Club has held at least one Specialty show and/or match each year.
