Election of Specialty and Match Judges will be done by secret ballot at a General meeting (preferably a closed meeting).

The judge nominee(s) (depending on the number of judges required) receiving the highest votes will be offered judging contracts.

In no case will an offer be made to a nominee receiving less than 20% of the votes cast.

If the second-place candidate receives less than the minimum 20% of votes cast, a second vote will immediately take place without the first place candidate.

After the successful candidate(s) are announced by the President, the tally sheet will be retained by the Corresponding Secretary as a club record.

Only successful candidates will be made public.

The ballots will be destroyed by the Corresponding Secretary.

If an elected judge is unable to accept our offer, the nominee with the next highest number of votes will be offered a contract.

If there is no remaining nominee with the minimum number of votes, it will be necessary to re-nominate and re-vote.

If for any reason, a judge still remains to be chosen 72 hours prior to a Specialty, the Show Chair shall have authority to select and retain a judge. Prior to 72 hours the Show Chair will poll the Board.

  1. Each member or applicant must include a requirement in their sales contract that any Great Dane puppy or adult Great Dane sold from their breeding/co-breeding must be returned to them if the owner no longer wishes or is unable to keep it, and an attempt at finding a mutually agreed upon rehoming is unsuccessful. The failure of a member to take responsibility for a first-generation Great Dane born in a member’s home or co-bred by a member will result in an automatic inquiry by the GDCC Board, with the possibility of charges being filed.

2. Each member or applicant must microchip all the puppies or adult Great Danes sold and send in the paperwork to the appropriate site, listing themselves as primary contact. This assures that, in the event the new owners become irresponsible, the breeder will be notified and able to respond if the animal is lost or stolen. Stud dog owners must strongly suggest that microchipping be done on any litter sired by their dog.
